When you do the job you love, you don’t feel the difficulties business is accompanied with.[more]Our guest is Nino Absandze – Director General of “FRESCO Group” managing FRESCO since 2012.  - Generally it is not easy to be successful. When I got involved in business, I never focused on that I am a woman and this is an obstacle. I have had an aim on every stage of my life and have headed to this aim. I think that sometimes women support formation of some stereotypes about different issues. - Is it kind of limitation to have the status of “business lady”?    - Status of the business lady offers possibilities, as well as some limitations. When you are the representative of the huge company, you have to be exemplary as your decisions may influence on lots of people and business itself, thus it is a huge responsibility and you set some self limits. These limitations are the natural part of everyday life. - Tell us about how you came to FRESCO and your background before FRESCO.- Before I came to FRESCO, I had very diverse experience of working in large companies.  In 2011, I was appointed on the highest position that a woman can ever have – I became a mother and after several months, I was proposed to become the general director of FRESCO Group – new actor of retail market, having only one supermarket with huge perspective and serious development plans.It was a really interesting challenge for me, it’s been 3 years that I’ve been managing the Company, which is under continuous development. - What are your plans for the future?-  Presently, the group I manage works in two directions: Supermarket Chain Fresco, owning 6 large supermarkets in different districts of Tbilisi, with 1000 employees and the second is Developing Company, having built residential building HILLSIDE RESIDENCE at #47 Amagleba Street, Sololaki.We plan to increase the FRESCO Chain and open at least two new supermarkets in Tbilisi, until the end of 2015. We will make important steps in the field of development as well. - What advice can you give to the women, who have just stepped in business sector or aim to achieve success in business or high positions?- Set your specific goal, be self-confident, though always listen to the experienced people and work as hard as you can.  I think fortune as well plays some part in our lives, though we are still the one who plan and manage our lives, thus work and desire are the key factors for achieving one’s goals.  - You admitted that the highest position for you is motherhood. How hard is it to manage the family and business together?- I have a husband and 3 years old twins – Lile and Giorgi. Despite the fully loaded work schedule, I always keep balance between the personal life and business. I spent my free time with family and friends; positive emotions I receive from my family and friends allow me to start every single day with more courage and desire.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF VASIL SOPROMADZE, FOUNDER OF FRESCO SUPERMARKET CHAIN

As it is said, true devotion is expressed in your deeds, not in words and that is why since launching FRESCO in 2012, I’ve never given interviews or have done any public announcement.  FRESCO caught interest of competitors, as well as customers, as it is the only company in the country, having operating with own investments and sources in their own supermarket facilities.For 24/7 a team of 1000 people of FRESCO serve its customers. High quality, clean environment, fresh products, 100% compliance to product safety standards, low prices, covering taxes in paying suppliers in time are the features that put the FRESCO team on front line; team which is free from nepotism or political pressure; team managed by well chosen top managers we are sincerely proud of.     Despite the success we have achieved, management and executive teams of FRESCO have lots of things to plan to cater our customers, serve the country and support any of FRESCO employees. Unfortunately, envy, improper attitude to business, unfair competition and cynical attitudes of some media representatives concerned me personally and our company. While I was personally concerned, I didn’t react or pay attention to it. It was neither first nor the last case in my business life; after one and half year ago, one of the representatives of tabloid issues, dedicated damaging article to FRESCO team and regularly attacked us as ordered by some interested individuals; we, being a business structure operating in the legal environment, tried to solve the issue via court hearings and we won, though court resolution is not executed up to now and newspaper has not yet apologized for spreading wrong, false information and the Prosecutor’s Office that we applied for criminal case, provided no action. Besides it, some other cases FRESCO applied to the court for are still pending. Last straw to the issue was absolutely obscene comment on TV show sponsored by our competitor, when one of the TV hosts, broadcasting from competitor’s supermarket expressed his negative approach to the unverified fact he read while reviewing the press issues. The host also admits that he is in one of the supermarkets of our competitor and such case is absolutely impossible to happen in this chain.    Considering the above said, I, businessmanVasil Sofromadze and Company “FRESCO” accept the challenge and announce the following:1.  Starting from 10:00 of February 23, 2015, in every single supermarket of FRESCO, on 10 (ten) key products there will be the lowest price than in any other place of Georgia. Other than having 5% FRESCO discount card, the chain offers continuously low prices throughout the country.2. In the neighborhood of the competitor chain supermarket, we will purchase a pitch of land and build FRESCO supermarket, as to illustrate the obvious difference between FRESCO and competitor’s supermarket and we do promise that we will accomplish the plan till the end of the year. 3. Fresco is comparably new among these actors, though it has successfully established itself on the market.  How FRESCO managed to position itself on the market and what it offers to its customers, Salome Sikharulidze, Head of the PR and Marketing Department shares her opinions about the topic.  - How long has it been since FRESCO showed up on the Georgian market, how many branches do you have and what are the plans for the future?- Supermarket Chain FRESCO has been on the Georgian market since 2012. We have opened our first supermarket in Varketili district and then, step by step we have opened other supermarkets throughout Tbilisi. Presently, Chain owns six largest supermarkets in Tbilisi districts: Varketili, Mukhiani, Ortachala, Saburtalo, Chugureti and Sanzona. Company FRESCO plans to expand the chain and build 2 new supermarkets in Isani and Digomi Districts.    - Is FRESCO fully Georgian or do you have any foreign partners?- FRESCO is the Georgian part of one strong, foreign financial group, history of which starts from 80s of the last century, headed by ethnic Georgian investor.FRESCO is oriented to create successful and comfortable business environment not only for the customers, but also for hundreds of employed individuals.  FRESCO is the company, which develops not only retail, but construction business as well. As you may already know, we have built each of our supermarkets with own resources. First we buy the land, then construct the supermarket buildings, which naturally requires large portion of investments, though in long-term perspective it exempts us from paying rents, which is pretty profitable by all means.  - As you know there are various supermarket chains on the market and the competition is high, how do you plan to compete with older and more experienced market actors?Notwithstanding the fact that it's been only three years that FRESCO acts on the retail market, we were able to show pretty serious competition to the older and experienced chains, moreover, we no more discuss them as our strong competitors.   In the end, fair competition provides our customers with the best service.From the very first steps, our goal was to be customer-oriented company and we offer the following: the lowest prices on the most demanded products, comfortable environment, high quality service, vast variety of products, including local, as well as imported products from European countries.  FRESCO offers the environment adapted to all types of customers; each of our supermarkets offers the same price, notwithstanding its location.Supermarket Chain FRESCO is distinguished visually as well.  As I mentioned above, we build our supermarkets and work on its exterior and interior for providing relevant comfort. Supermarkets are further equipped by outdoor and underground parking spaces, where our customers can park their cars in a comfortable and safe way.  - What makes FRESCO different from other similar chains and why should the customer choose your supermarket?-   It is pretty clear why the customers have to choose FRESCO; FRESCO is the supermarket offering service for 24 hours, keeps its quality standards, offers the lowest prices and high quality service via qualified personnel, including more than 25,000 products and exclusive offer - 5% discount card, which can be used without any point accruing system - minus 5% for every products of the supermarket.For providing more comfort to our customers, we have arranged cafe, children's corner, drugstore and other facilities. - Do you plan to enter the regions of Georgia and how many people are employed in your chain?- We plan to open FRESCO supermarkets in other big cities of Georgia as well; there is already a demand from the customers to have FRESCO supermarkets in Kutaisi, Batumi, Rustavi, etc. We keep searching for areas of land and are ready to open the supermarket there, where our customers ask for it.Presently, FRESCO employees about 1500 individuals, including construction direction, this number will be increased by 500 individuals by the end of 2015 year.  This means that, today, FRESCO is the company, which creates many working places and fights against the major problem of the country - unemployment.Based on the above said, we dare to declare that, FRESCO is the number one company on the retail market of Georgia.
